From boomerangs to hot air balloons, from boxed kites to the Wright Flyer, the story of aviation is rich and varied. With the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center as their classroom, students are introduced to the amazing men and women of early powered flight, see their world-changing accomplishments, and learn important scientific principles behind the early flying machines.
During the program, students examine historical, scientific, and technological aspects of aviation; museum docents answer student questions; and historians and aviation professionals discuss early flights’ impact on exploration, communication, and commerce.
